The Brenham Pet Adoption Center is currently packed with adoptable pets.

There are plenty of kittens to choose from, along with adult cats and a few cats that would make good outdoor or barn cats.  The adoptable dog kennels are also full.

If you would like to adopt any of the pets available, visit the Brenham Pet Adoption Center at 1804 Longwood Drive.

If you’re not ready to adopt, but still want to help animals in need, the shelter is looking for foster families.  Email animalservices@cityofbrenham.org or call 979-337-7351 for more information.

Staff at the shelter say its population is already higher than it was during its peak last summer.  They add it can be difficult to place unwanted litters in new homes.  The shelter encourages people to consider its available sterilization options.

  1. Is sterilization optional? No animal should leave a shelter until spayed and neutered or the cycle repeats itself. I sincerely hope it’s mandatory before release, and not left up to the adopter.

    1. It’s mandatory – they are saying if people would spay/neuter their animals they wouldn’t be so over populated.
