BRAZOS CO. SHERIFF WILL NOT RUN FOR REELECTION

Brazos County Sheriff Chris Kirk tells the Bryan/College Station Eagle he will be stepping down at the end of his current term.

Kirk has spent nearly 40 years with the Brazos County Sheriff’s Office, including six four-year-terms as Sheriff.

Kirk will also be stepping down from leadership positions he holds with state and national agencies.

Kirk says he plans to remain dedicated to his daily duties up to the end of his term next year.  Although he hadn’t planned to formally announce his departure at this time, Kirk said he doesn’t wish to conceal his plans for retirement.
