18-WHEELER FIRE EXTINGUISHED IN SCHULENBURG ALONG I-10

  

Authorities were called out to an 18-wheeler fire Tuesday evening in Schulenburg.

Around 7:30 p.m., the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office received a 911 call reporting an 18-wheeler on fire on I-10 westbound, near the 677 mile marker.  The Schulenburg Fire Department responded, along with Sheriff’s deputies.

Upon their arrival, it was reported the rear trailer tires were on fire and spreading to the trailer.  Schulenburg firefighters arrived and quickly extinguished the fire.

The driver of the 18-wheeler told authorities the fire started because a tire blew out on the rear trailer axle.  The trailer was reportedly carrying dry goods.  No injuries were reported.
