GAY HILL, PRAIRIE HILL VFD’S PUT OUT HAY FIRES SUNDAY

Washington County firefighters stayed busy Sunday, as they responded to hay fires on property in north Washington County.

Units were called out just before 1:45 p.m. Sunday afternoon to Clay Creek Road, where they found several round bales on fire.

Gay Hill and Prairie Hill volunteer firefighters spent two hours extinguishing the fires.

According to Gay Hill Volunteer Fire Chief Donald Schroeder, ten round bales of hay were lost.  The cause of the fire is believed to be lightning from the storms early Sunday morning.
