BRENHAM/SALEM F.D.’S LIMIT GRASS FIRE TO 1/4 ACRE

The Brenham and Salem Fire Departments limited a grass fire to minimal damage, Monday afternoon.

Firefighters were called out to a grass fire off Toliver Road near FM 109, just after 2:30, Monday afternoon.

They round about a quarter of an acre of grass burning and quickly extinguished the fire before it could spread.

The cause of the fire was from a tree that had been stuck by lightening, Saturday night.

Firefighters were at the scene for about 45 minutes.

Just after 6:00 p.m., the Brenham Department was dispatched to a small fire in a flower bed near Lowe’s Home Improvement store.

The fire was quickly extinguished.  The cause is believed to be a discarded cigarette.
