An Austin-area substitute teacher has been fired and charged with aggravated assault in the beating of a 15-year-old girl, captured on video.

32-year old Tiffani Lankford of San Marcos is free on $10,000 bond after her arrest Friday afternoon.

Video of the incident at Lehman High School in Kyle has gone viral.

According to the attorney for the victim, Lankford allegedly cursed at the students, who were being loud.  The girl reportedly told the substitute teacher not to talk to her that way.

A video shows the teacher striking the student several times, before kicking the girl’s head.  The teen is being treated for her injuries.

The incident has caught the attention of Texas Gov. Greg Abbott, who called for an investigation of the district.

In a statement, Abbott says, “Conduct like this won’t be tolerated in Texas classrooms.  The school district will be investigated by the Texas Education Agency.”

  1. When my son was in the fourth grade, he was being yelled at by his teacher. This would happen every day. I complained to the school district about it but they never did nothing. My son was a good student. Very shy. I didn’t find out about this from another student until l the last days of school.. I remember that he never wanted to go to school but he never told me why.. I used to go to the open house at school and she would always say that he was a good student. Parents get involved in your kids school. Ask questions, not just the teacher, ask other students about the teachers. Sometimes the district cover it up and will say that teacher is one of the best.
