JOB OPPORTUNITIES FOR TEXANS AGES 50+ THROUGH 2020 CENSUS
Counting for the 2020 Census begins in April, and officials say Texans over 50 years old will be able to take advantage of short-term employment opportunities.
AARP Texas Director Tina Tran said her organization is helping older residents who want to get involved to become census-takers in their communities. She said the Census is looking for about 500,000 temporary workers, and is a great opportunity for particularly older workers who are seeking flexible and short-term work.
Texas is one of five states nationwide that has not set up a statewide “Complete Count” committee, tasked with increasing awareness and motivating residents to participate in the 2020 census. Tran said, without the statewide committee, the onus falls to local entities to ensure everyone is educated on the Census.
Back in October, a Complete Count Committee for Washington County was formed by members of the Brenham and Burton governments, Brenham ISD, Blinn College, Faith Mission, and others. The committee will utilize local media, city governments, social media, and public events through the coming months to spread the word on the Census.
The Federal Census is mandated by the Constitution and takes place every ten years. The Census not only determines the distribution of federal funding to the states, but also sets the states’ representation in Congress for ten years.
I wonder how much it pays ?
