LONGHORN ALL-AMERICAN TERRY TAUSCH DIES
University of Texas All-American Terry Tausch died earlier this week at his home in Plano. He was 61.
Tausch was a four-year letterman (1978-81) and a lynchpin on the Longhorns’ offensive line. He earned All-America honors in 1980 and 1981, and was inducted into the Texas Athletics Hall of Honors in 2001.
Over the four years he lettered Texas compiled a 35-12-1 record and in 1981 finished No. 2 in the final rankings following a 14-12 win over No. 3 Alabama in the Cotton Bowl
Tausch was selected by Minnesota in the second round of the 1982 NFL draft and spent his first seven seasons as a Viking, appearing in 90 games with 68 starts. He played the 1989 season, his last, with San Francisco, winning Super Bowl XXIV.
