FAYETTE CO. OPENS UP DRIVE-THRU COVID-19 TESTING

Fayette County has opened a centralized coronavirus testing site.

According to the Fayette County Record, the county has tested 10 people as of Wednesday morning, April 8. County Emergency Management Chief Craig Moreau said the county has not received any test results yet. The results take about 48 hours.

The drive-thru facility is located at the Fayette County Fairgrounds in La Grange, but it is not open to anyone who wants to get a test. Individuals must have a prescription from a physician or a referral from the Texas Department of State Health Services.

Moreau said the local school districts in Fayette County have each provided school nurses to help with testing and to follow up with patients after the test.

Moreau said. “It’s good for people to know that someone cares about them and is checking up on them. If the patient is in good shape, we’ll call and check on them every three or four days. If they’re not doing so good, we’ll check on them every day. But its up to the patient. If they don’t want us to check on them, we’ll respect their privacy.”
