A&M PREPARING FOR POSSIBLE STAFF REDUCTION

  

 

Texas A&M has begun informing employees they should brace for a possible reduction of up to 7.5% beginning in the fall of 2021.

Due to COVID-19, A&M officials may have to prepare for possible budget cuts.

Officials at the school say nothing is decided at this time and this is only a scenario of what could happen next year.

Currently, the university has a flexible hiring freeze in place, meaning any new hires must first be approved by the president's office.

Appropriations for the next fiscal year will happen in January, so A&M officials say they feel now is the time to begin having those tough 'what if' discussions with staff.

A spokesman for Blinn College says budget recommendations should be in place for the Board of Trustees to consider at their meeting next month.
