ASTROS WIN IN EXTRA INNINGS; RANGERS FALL TO PADRES

Myles Straw ended a pitchers’ duel with a walk-off single, giving the Astros 2-1, 11-inning win over Colorado, Tuesday afternoon.

Straw singled to left to score Abraham Toro with the game-winner, giving Houston its sixth straight win.

The two teams went to extra innings tied at 0-0.  Each team scored a run in the tenth, before the Astros picked up the win.

Zach Grienke pitched brilliantly, but did not notch a decision, going eight innings of shutout baseball, striking out seven and yielding just three hits.  Reliever Andre Scrubb picked up the win.

The same two teams now head to Denver for a pair of games.  Tonight’s first pitch is set for 7:40 with Astro Launch at 7:05 on KWHI and FM 101.7.

 

San Diego jumped out to an early lead and held on to beat the Rangers, 6-0.

The Padres built up a 6-0 lead by the fourth inning, before the Rangers rallied to cut the lead to two runs, but fell short.

Mike Minor (0-4) struggled over 3.2 innings, yielding six runs on nine hits.

Joey Gallo’s three-run homer cut into the lead, but the Rangers were unable to get any closer over the last five innings.

The series now moves to San Diego for games Wednesday and Thursday,
