“CZHILISPIEL 48” IN DOWNTOWN FLATONIA CANCELLED
SCHOLARSHIP PAGEANT, GOLF TOURNAMENT, PIE CONTEST STILL SCHEDULED
The Flatonia Chamber of Commerce has announced the cancellation of the “Czhilispiel 48” celebration due to COVID-19.
The annual celebration of Czech and German culture was set for October 23-25 in downtown Flatonia, but was cancelled by the Chamber’s Board of Directors in line with the orders of Fayette County Judge Joe Weber and Fayette County Emergency Management Chief Craig Moreau.
However, the Chamber Board approved having the Czhilispiel 48 Scholarship Pageant on October 10th with guidelines from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). Plans are also still in place to hold the Czhilispiel Golf Tournament, as well as the Flatonia Lions Club’s pie baking contest, on October 24th.
Czhilispiel 48 sponsors will be given the option to leave their donation and use it for next year’s celebration, or receive a refund.
