ASTROS SPLIT TWINBILL–POSTPONE GAMES THURSDAY & FRIDAY

OAKLAND CLOBBERS RANGERS

The Astros split their Tuesday double header with the Angels, taking the opener, 6-3 and dropping the night cap, 12-5.

The twinbill was scheduled as a precaution as Hurricane Laura approached the Texas coast, Wednesday.  Games Wednesday and Thursday have been postponed to a later date.

In the opener, Houston did most of its damage in the first inning, jumping out to a 5-0 lead.  Jack Mayfield drove in two runs with a single.

In the fourth, Yuli Gurriel extended the lead with an rbi-double.

Christian Javier (3-1) picked up the win, while Ryan Pressley got his fourth save.

In the night cap, the Angels scored four runs in the first inning and never trailed.

The Astros got to within 6-4 in the fifth, on an rbi-triple by Kyle Tucker and a home run from Abraham Toro.  However, the Angels pulled away with two more runs in the sixth and four in the seventh.

Brandon Bielak (3-2) took the loss.

With Wednesday and Thursday games postponed, the Astros will next be in action Friday at home to first-place Oakland.

In Arlington, Oakland took advantage of shaking Ranger pitching and rolled to a 10-3 win.

The A’s scored runs on a bases loaded walk, a hit batsman and a wild pitch.  The also clubbed two home runs and a three-run double.

Kyle Gibson (1-3) took the loss.  While Nick Solak provided the lone offensive highlight with a two-run single.

The Rangers and A’s will meet again tonight at 7:05
