ASTROS LIMP INTO PLAYOFFS WITH LOSING RECORD
The Houston Astros dropped their final two games to the Rangers, 6-1 Saturday and 8-4 Sunday. Despite a losing record (29-31), they now prepare for the post-season.
The Astros limp into the playoffs as the #8-seed in the American League. However, due to a convoluted playoff format, they will face #3-seed Minnesota (36-24). All three games will be played at Target Field in Minneapolis.
Game one of the best two-of-three is set for 1:00 CDT, Tuesday and game two is scheduled for 12:00 noon, Wednesday. If necessary, game three will be Thursday at a time to be announced.
Zach Greinke (3-3, 4.03 ERA) is set to start game one for the Astros, while the Twins counter with Kenta Maeda (6-1, 2.70 ERA).
Under the COVID-19 adjusted season the Astros and Milwaukee Brewers (29-31) are the first teams in Major League history to make the playoffs with a losing record.
