‘VALORA’ NAMED PET OF THE WEEK

The Brenham Pet Adoption Center has named “Valora” as its Pet of the Week.

Valora is a pit bull mix, about two to three years old.  She came to the shelter after someone witnessed her being thrown from an overpass.  Brenham Animal Services staff have been nursing her back to health with wound care, and surgery is scheduled to amputate a badly damaged foreleg.

Despite the foreleg, a large bump on her head, and testing positive for heartworms, staff say Valora is always cheerful and shows no signs of any other issues keeping her down.  They say adapting to life with three legs should be a snap for her, and that she would do best in a home with a fence and older children who can keep up with her energy level.

Anyone interested in adopting or fostering a pet can see the shelter’s available pets online at www.petfinder.com.  Appointments to meet a pet can be made by calling 979-337-7351, or by visiting the Brenham Animal Services Facebook page.  The shelter is open Tuesday through Thursday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Staff say they anticipate having approximately 15 new animals ready for adoption later this week after they have been sterilized.  They expect to have kittens and cats of varying ages, a few Shepherd mix pups, and a juvenile age Great Dane/Lab mix.
