BLINN HOOPS DEFEATS DALLAS CHRISTIAN, 112-86

Tyler Washington records 10 points and rebounds for a double-double

 

BRENHAM, Texas — The Blinn College men’s basketball team defeated Dallas Christian College, 112-86, in a non-conference game Sunday afternoon in the Kruse Center.

With the win, the Buccaneers improve their overall record to 7-2.

“Overall, I thought our guys executed what they needed to execute,” head coach Scott Schumacher said. “They did a good job guarding and played hard all game.”

Seven Buccaneers recorded double-digit points in the victory. Bonke Maring led Blinn with 18, Ky Blodget followed with 14, Austin Galuppo scored 13, Calvin Carpenter put up 11, and Tyler Washington, Jacob Paske, and Sanmi Fajana each tallied 10.

On defense, Washington led the Buccaneers with 10 rebounds to record a double-double. Bonke followed with eight rebounds and Blodget tallied seven. Braelon Seals led Blinn with six assists, while Paske and Blodget each recorded four.

The Buccaneers built an early lead and stayed on top of Dallas Christian, 50-29, at the halfway mark. Blinn continued to dominate in the second half, adding 62 points to the scoreboard for a 26-point victory.

Next, the Buccaneers will return to conference play against Kilgore College on Wednesday, March 3, at 7 p.m. in the Kruse Center.
