RIBBON CUTTING THURSDAY FOR SPLASH PAD AT HENDERSON PARK

(Mark Whitehead)

The Washington County Chamber of Commerce will hold a ribbon cutting tomorrow (Thursday) to celebrate the opening of the City of Brenham splash pad at Henderson Park.

While the splash pad first opened to the public last June, no ribbon cutting ceremony was held due to the COVID-19 pandemic.  The splash pad reopened for the spring and summer season on April 1st, and is open through the end of September.

The ribbon cutting will also celebrate the addition of new facilities to the splash pad.  Over the past few months, funding from the Brenham Community Development Corporation (BCDC) was used to build and install several splash pad improvements, including sidewalks for connectivity, a single-family restroom, additional seating, and a bike rack.  A shade structure was also built using a grant from the H-E-B Tournament of Champions Charitable Trust.

The splash pad has reduced hours of 2 to 7 p.m. through the month of April, due to the Brazos River Authority’s (BRA) Stage 1 drought watch.

The ribbon cutting will be held at 3:30 p.m.  Ribbon cuttings are held in person, but they can also be watched live on the Chamber’s Facebook page.
