Update @ 3:35 p.m.: Citadel Christian School has provided an update on the brief lockdown and police response to their campus this (Thursday) morning.

Principal Sheila Suders told KWHI that school officials saw an individual driving “somewhat erratically” around campus before parking his vehicle.  Suders said the man then exited the vehicle and appeared to approach the school, prompting administrators to call police and place the school on lockdown.

School officials later learned that the individual was the step-parent of a child at the school and was leaving his vehicle on campus for someone else to pick up later on.

Suders said the school took precautionary measures by calling police and issuing a lockdown because administrators did not see the man leave the campus and could not identify him or the vehicle he was driving.  She said they also did not see the exchange of the man getting into another vehicle.

Original Story @ 10:30 a.m.: Vehicle problems led to a police response and a temporary lockdown this (Thursday) morning at Citadel Christian School in Brenham.

Community Resource Officer Marley Mayo said the Brenham Police Department received a call this morning of a suspicious person driving around the school.  Officers and a K-9 responded to the scene, and the school was placed on lockdown.

After investigation, police learned the suspicious person was actually a father coming to pick up his child who was sick, but his truck broke down in front of the school.  Mayo said the man was walking around outside the school while he waited for his wife to pick him and the child up.

The lockdown was lifted shortly thereafter.
