ROUND TOP SESQUICENTENNIAL CELEBRATION SATURDAY

A big celebration is happening this weekend in the small town of Round Top.

The 150th anniversary of the town will be celebrated tomorrow (Saturday) by the Round Top Sesquicentennial Committee, which is putting on an all-day birthday bash on the town square.  The event, originally scheduled for last year, will have historical presentations and tours, food from local restaurants, kids’ activities, and live music throughout the day.

Festivities kick off at 10 a.m. with a cannon blast, followed by magic shows and firetruck sprays; free cupcakes and treats inside the square’s courthouse; live music from Enzian Baum, the Round Top Brass Band and Black Cat Choir; and the first ever “Taste of Round Top,” showcasing popular food options from Round Top to locals and visitors.

Guests will also be able to take tours of the inside and outside of the Festival Hill grounds, and the first 150 guests will be treated to a special concert featuring James Dick, Julie Bouchard and Mike Stroup at 3 p.m.

Wrapping up the celebration will be a Country Legends Tribute to Waylon, Willie and George at 7:30 p.m. in the historic dancehall at The Stone Cellar.
