FAYETTE CO. AUTHORITIES INVESTIGATING POSSIBLE HUMAN SMUGGLING ATTEMPT
The Fayette County Sheriff’s Office is investigating what it calls a possible human smuggling attempt.

Early Tuesday morning, before 1:45 a.m., a deputy stopped a green GMC SUV on I-10 near the Schulenburg/La Grange exit for an equipment violation.
According to the Sheriff’s Office, as the vehicle came to a stop, the driver fled on foot, running into the brush. Six to eight Hispanic males were also seen fleeing from the passenger side of the vehicle into a thick wooded area.
Investigators searched the area, but no one was found. The vehicle involved in the incident was towed.
