SUMMER DRAMA CAMP RETURNS AT UNITY THEATRE

  

Unity Theatre in Brenham has announced the return of Summer Drama Camps.

The theatre says the camps are for school-aged children entering grades 2-12 and offer ways for students to explore creativity and exercise their imaginations, while introducing them to the craft of creating characters and bringing theatrical performances to life.

Campers entering grades 7-12 will be able to audition, rehearse and perform their own musical, Schoolhouse Rock Live, Jr.  The two-week camp begins on July 12^th and will culminate in performances on Unity’s Main Stage July 23^rd and 24^th.

Two camp options are available for students entering grades 4-6.  Playbuilding is a week-long camp starting July 12^th, focusing on theatre techniques, storytelling and improvisation.  The camp will conclude with a showcase performance on July 17^th.  The Acting in Performance, Jr. class will also be offered starting on July 12^th; campers will ultimately perform alongside professional artists in Unity’s Summer Family Musical, The Wizard of Oz, from July 29-August 1.

Students entering grades 2-3 will be able to take the Creative Dramatics class, exploring subjects like imagination and movement.  The class will run July 12-16, with a showcase performance on July 17^th.
