BURTON CITY COUNCIL TO APPOINT MAYOR PRO-TEM, CONSIDER FLAG POLE REPAIRS

The Burton City Council will meet today (Tuesday) to consider appointing a mayor pro-tem.

The councilmember who is selected as mayor pro-tem will serve in the position for one year.  Councilmember Nathan Kalkhake is currently designated as mayor pro-tem.

In other items on today’s agenda, the council will consider repairing or replacing the lights that shine on the flag poles on Highway 290 in Burton, one on each side of the freeway.  The flags are currently unlit, as both of the lights are broken.  Harmel Electric will present an estimate for repairs of the bulbs, fixture, wiring and breakers.

Councilmembers will also discuss the 2021 appraisal for Washington County, and take possible action on the field inspection form and target ordinances regarding code violation and enforcement.  At the council’s meeting last month, it contracted Tom Whitesides to serve as a code enforcement officer.  At this meeting, it will review the ordinances it prefers Whitesides to concentrate on.

The council will meet this afternoon at 5:30 p.m. at Burton City Hall.
