ROUND TOP GETTING READY FOR 4TH OF JULY FESTIVITIES
The town of Round Top is preparing for its next installment of the oldest continuous Fourth of July celebration west of the Mississippi River.
The 171st celebration gets underway on the town square at 10 a.m. The firing of the town cannon will mark the start of the parade at 10:30 a.m., featuring floats, antique cars and trail riders.
Following the parade, barbecue chicken and sausage plates will be sold dine-in or to-go at the Round Top Rifle Hall at 11:30 a.m. Barbecue will also be sold by the pound.
Other planned activities include a full day of music from the Round Top Brass Band, the Round Top Jam Session and Cool Freddie and the Crew. There will also be a biergarten and a cake walk.
