BLINN ESPORTS PROGRAM BEGINNING 2021-22 TRYOUTS AUGUST 22

Blinn College’s esports program will begin tryouts next month for its 2021-22 teams.

Tryouts will be held August 22nd through September 1st.

Launched in fall 2020, the program had three top-10 national finishes during its inaugural year.

Blinn’s Rocket League team had a top-four finish in the National Association of College Esports (NACE) competition.  Blinn’s Valorant team placed in the top 10 in the NACE national tournament and had a top-four finish in the National Junior College Athletic Association.  In addition, Blinn’s Overwatch team had a top-32 NACE placing.

Blinn hosts coed, 30-player teams on the Brenham and Bryan campuses.  Blinn is one of only a few community colleges in the region offering esports scholarships.

Teams being formed are League of Legends, Overwatch, Rocket League and Valorant.  Students can register for tryouts by filling out a recruitment form at www.blinn.edu/esports. More information is available at the program’s Discord address.

The college also is recruiting students to provide support for the program, including production, streaming, casting, content creation, and social media.

Blinn is launching a new Simulation and Game Programming degree on the Brenham Campus this fall. It will be housed in a new, 72,000-square-foot Science, Technology, Engineering and Innovation Building that will open in August.

The Simulation and Game Programming degree will be offered on the RELLIS Campus in fall 2022.
