BSW-BRENHAM NURSE RECEIVES DAISY AWARD

  

A nurse at Baylor Scott and White Hospital in Brenham has been named a recipient of a national nursing award.

David Kuespert has received the DAISY Award, which honors hard-working nurses who provide passionate care to patients and families.

Kuespert was nominated after taking care of a resident who was admitted to the hospital with double pneumonia and tested positive for COVID-19.

As the patient was unable to have family by his bedside before his passing, Kuespert was the patient’s “family,” keeping the patient’s loved ones informed on how he was doing and what treatments were being done.  Kuespert also extended well wishes and reassurance from the patient’s family to him.

The DAISY Foundation was formed in 1999 with a goal of expressing gratitude to nurses with programs that recognize them for the care they provide for patients and families.
