GRASS FIRE DESTROYS VEHICLE WEDNESDAY NEAR LA GRANGE

  

A grass fire destroyed a vehicle Wednesday afternoon in Fayette County.  Fayette County Sheriff Keith Korenek reports that they received multiple calls around 2:30 Wednesday afternoon of a vehicle and grass fire on Highway 71 near Halstedt Road east of La Grange.  Both the Ellinger and La Grange Fire Departments responded and found a large grass fire and a vehicle that was fully involved.  The fire was quickly extinguished and there were no reported injuries.  The driver reported that as he was driving on his property, the vehicle quit running.  As he was walking back to his house, grass beneath the vehicle caught fire.  The fire spread quickly and the 2005 Nissan Xterra was a total loss.  Photos courtesy of the Fayette County Sheriff's Office.
