BURTON CITY COUNCIL TO CONSIDER PROPERTY TAX RATE

  

The Burton City Council is set to meet on Tuesday after postponing its meeting from September 14th.

On the agenda is consideration of a property tax rate for the upcoming fiscal year.  The council plans to set a public hearing for the rate on September 28th at 5:30 p.m.

The council will also discuss adding insurance for real and personal property loss due to crime onto the employee insurance policy.  The council tabled action on the item at its meeting last month.

In addition, councilmembers will potentially change the Burton Municipal Court to an inactive status and accept the resignation of Burton Municipal Judge Angela Harrington effective October 1st.

Also in session, the council will consider:

  • Payment of the FundView invoice for $2,362.50 for the city’s annual FastCourt municipal court software subscription.
  • Approval of a building and car port being added in the back of a property located at 304 North Main Street.
  • Closing North Railroad Street (excluding the post office) from Texas Street to West Washington Street and from West Washington Street to Cedar Street, as well as Live Oak Street from Main Street to Railroad Street, on October 30th from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. for the Burton Trick or Treat Trail hosted by the Burton Chamber of Commerce.
  • Closing West Texas Street from Main Street to Railroad Street for the Toast & Smoke event sponsored by the Burton Beautification Committee.

The council will meet Tuesday afternoon at 5:30 p.m. at Burton City Hall.
