Blinn took two more matches Saturday at the Kruse Invitational, racing past College of DuPage and Dallas College-North Lake to finish the tournament with a 4-0 record and without losing a game.

Third-ranked Blinn is now 20-1 on the season with a 19-match winning streak. The Bucs haven’t lost a match since Aug. 20 at the Midland Tournament and haven’t lost a game since Sept. 2.

The Bucs won their morning match with DuPage 25-14, 25-16, 25-12 behind 14 kills from Jayde Shelton and eight each from Chard’e Van Zandt and Guilia Hortelan. Lina Ellila led Blinn with 32 assists. Hortelan had nine digs to lead the Bucs’ defensive effort.

In their second game, the Bucs had little trouble with Dallas College, winning 25-7, 25-8, 25-12.

Head coach Terry Gamble said his team played well with a match against conference co-leader Panola College looming.

“I thought Reagan Casey played great in the last match along with the rest of the team,” Gamble said.

Casey led Blinn with 10 kills. Shelton and Van Zandt each had eight. Ellila again led Blinn with 25 assists. Lixai Velez had nine digs to lead the Bucs.

“We have a big match Tuesday against conference co-leader Panola. Hopefully we’ll be able to play like we have been,” Gamble said.

That game is scheduled for 6 p.m. in the Kruse Center.
