BRENHAM SCHOOL BOARD HEARS COVID UPDATE

  

Jamie Woodall, Director of Health & Safety for the District, presented the Brenham School Board with a COVID Update at their noon meeting today (Monday).  Woodall said that COVID cases continue to decrease in the district.  The total today for active cases among all campuses is 19 students and 7 staff members.  She said the numbers for the Brenham district are on par with other districts in the Brazos Valley and show fewer cases when compared to the national average.  Students and staff testing numbers continue to decrease also, with only four coming in this morning for testing.

In other action:

The board approved the naming of Brittni Knebel Kalich as the new IT Systems Coordinator.  She is currently employed by the district as an Instructional Technology Specialist.

The board approved removing local graduation requirements and adopted the state graduation requirements contained in the Foundation Plan with Endorsements.  The only difference in the requirements are the local plan called for students to take a High School health class and a tech class. Brandi Hendrix, Assistant Superintendent of Curriculum, said that most students take health in 8th grade and take keyboarding in elementary school.

The board approved a purchasing vendor list.  The list is made up of current vendors the district does over $50,000 in business with.

The board approved applying for a waiver for the 7th grade reading instrument assessment.  The current material is not on the approved assessment list.

The board approved keeping the same members on the Board of Directors of the Washington County Tax Appraisal District.  The current members are: John Schaer, Charles Gaskamp, Johanna Fatheree, Leslie Boehnemann Jr. and Joe Antkowiak.

The board approved a resolution declaring October 13th as Texas Education Human Resources Day.
