BURTON PANTHERS 1ST AND LADY PANTHERS 2ND AT CROSS COUNTRY MEET

The Burton Panthers continued their cross country meet this past Saturday at Burton High School. Despite the wet and muddy conditions, the Panthers ran well, with the Varsity Boys placing 1st as a team and the Lady Panthers finishing 2nd as a team.

The Panthers were led by freshman Colton Broesche, who finished the 2 mile run with a 12:48. Also competing for the Panthers were Andre Ortiz, Grayson Brown, Trinity Pope, Mitchell Hensley, and David Dunlop. In the junior high division, the Panthers were led by Devlin Douglas, whose 2 mile time of 12:55 bested all other junior high runners.

Peyton Sigsbee finished first for the Lady Panthers and 3rd overall with a 2 mile time of 14:15, a season best. The Lady Panthers were aided by Victoria Weisepape, Ella Hensley, Avery Applewhite, Kara Kaye, Kaylynn Vavrecka, Jennifer Lopez, Samantha Angell, Azaneth Rios, and Hannah Herrin. Eight grader Melanie Woods grabbed 2nd overall for the Lady Panthers, with a 16:32 time in the 2 mile.

The Panthers travel to Festival Hill for their last invitational meet of the year on October 9th before heading to Davidson Creek Park in Caldwell for the October 14th district meet.
