Blinn volleyball team downs Navarro 3-1 in conference action

No. 3 Buccaneers extend win streak to 29 matches

The Blinn College volleyball team stayed firmly on top of the Region XIV standings Saturday, beating 20th-ranked Navarro College 3-1 Saturday in a road game.
The 3rd-ranked Buccaneers lost the first game 16-25 but stormed back to take the next three 25-19, 25-22, 25-13. Blinn reached 30 wins on the season at 30-1. The Bucs are 11-0 in conference and have won 29 straight matches.
“It’s really good when you go on the road and beat a good team,” head coach Terry Gamble said. “I thought we played great defense today.”
Navarro is in third place in the conference at 5-3.
Jayde Shelton led Blinn with 16 kills, with Guilia Hortelan adding 13. Chard’e Van Zandt had eight and Reagan Casey six.
Savannah Sebek led the Bucs with 35 assists. Lixai Perez led the defensive effort with 22 digs.
Blinn hosts Wharton County Junior College on Wednesday for a 6 p.m. match in the Kruse Center.
