BURTON CITY COUNCIL MAKES NO CHANGES TO INSURANCE POLICY

The Burton City Council moved to leave the city’s law enforcement liability insurance as is at its meeting Tuesday.

The council considered lowering insurance coverage and raising the deductible, after tabling action on the item last month.  The council ultimately decided to keep the insurance policy the same.

Also at Tuesday’s meeting, councilmembers looked at adding insurance for real and personal property loss due to crime.  However, they voted to remove the item from the agenda, as City Secretary Adrian Cepeda said the city does not qualify for the insurance.

The council also moved to keep mineral rights and reject an offer from Texas Resources Group to purchase mineral and royalty interest from properties within the city.
