ALERT DRIVER TIPS POLICE AND LEADS TO ARREST

  

An alert driver’s report led to the arrest on DWI and other charges Wednesday evening.  Brenham Police report that at 11:40 PM, officers responded to the 2700 block of Highway 36 South in reference to a reckless vehicle. A caller reported following a vehicle driving erratically and nearly striking a mailbox. Corporal Andrea Guerra observed the vehicle traveling through a parking lot located in the 200 block of Highway 290 West and attempted to stop the vehicle. The vehicle then accelerated through the parking lot, fleeing from Cpl. Guerra, before stopping in an adjacent parking lot. The driver exhibited signs of being intoxicated and Standard Field Sobriety Tests were administered. The driver was placed under arrest for Driving While Intoxicated with an open container. The driver, Petric Vanessa Castillo 48 of Brenham, was charged with DWI open container, Fleeing a Police Officer, Possession of a Controlled Substance, and Resisting Arrest.  Subsequent to her arrest, she was found to be in possession of a narcotic and resisted the search during execution of a search warrant for a blood draw.
