BRENHAM PLANNING AND ZONING APPROVES REPLAT, SPECIFIC USE PERMIT
The Brenham Planning and Zoning Commission unanimously approved a replat for a new subdivision and a specific use permit for a garage apartment at its meeting Monday.
The Market Square Brenham subdivision is set to be located on nearly 49 acres between South Market Street, Cantey Street and Highway 290 East. The approved replat, requested by Paul Leventis of Market Square, allows for the creation of two streets, Nolan Street and Ryan Street.
The specific use permit request came from Carl Franklin and Linda Bessmer at 405 Martin Luther King, Jr. Parkway. Approval of the request is contingent upon a variance being granted by the Board of Adjustment for the east side yard setback.
The city’s current accessory dwelling unit (ADU) standards require that an ADU be 10 feet from the side property line. The existing concrete slab from a prior garage that was removed sits approximately 6.5 feet from the property line, and will require a variance to the east side setback.
The Board of Adjustment will consider the variance request at its meeting on December 13th.
