WASHINGTON CO. CLERK’S OFFICE TO UTILIZE ONLINE SOFTWARE FOR RECORDS REQUESTS

Starting tomorrow (Wednesday), the Washington County Clerk’s Office will go live with cloud-based software to allow residents to request vital records online.

Washington County has partnered with Permitium to utilize VitalDirector, which will offer an online option of processing, payment and issuance of birth, death and marriage certificates.

Washington County Clerk Beth Rothermel said the software acts as another tool in the toolbox for the county to serve those needing a vital record.  She said it will most likely be utilized by people living outside of Washington County or the state, and noted that anyone wanting to come in person to the county clerk’s office to obtain a record can still do so.

The program comes at no cost to the county and is convenience-fee funded by customers.  It also has systems to verify that the person requesting information is legally allowed to do so.

Permitium Managing Partner Matt Solomon said the solution meets the recent demand for the ability to order vital records online and allows citizens to request those records through a common interface for walk-in and online application submissions.  He said the software aligns with the county’s priority of keeping staff and citizens safe while providing the best service possible.
