Fayette County Sheriff Keith Korenek reports that in the early morning hours of Friday, Deputy Kieschnick initiated a traffic stop on a vehicle for an equipment violation on Highway 71 near Ellinger.  The vehicle turned off of Highway 71 and eventually pulled over on a nearby side road. Deputy Kieschnick started to approach the vehicle when the driver exited his vehicle and began walking towards him and not complying with the Deputies orders to stop.  Deputy Kieschnick attempted to secure the subject in handcuffs and the subject resisted, a struggle ensued with the subject shoving and struggling with the Deputy and grabbing at his equipment belt.  Deputy Kieschnick pulled away from the suspect, deployed his TASER and then attempted to secure the subject in handcuffs on the ground while the subject continued to resist until other Deputies arrived and were able to assist in restraining him.

Upon further investigation Deputy Kieschnick located a handgun and rifle sitting in the driver’s seat area of the vehicle.  Approximately 4 pounds of methamphetamine was located in a container in the rear seat of the vehicle as well as a bag containing a large amount of U.S. Currency. The firearms, Methamphetamine, and currency were all seized.
