WALLER HANDS CUBETTES FIRST DISTRICT LOSS 6-2

The Waller Lady Bulldogs (6-2, 1-0) defeated the Brenham Cubette Softball Team (5-3, 1-1) 6-2 last (Tuesday) night.

Waller scored their first run on an error in the bottom of the second inning to take an early 1-0 lead.

In the top of the third inning, Avery Maurer hit a long fly ball that was dropped by Waller leftfielder Maddison Dillon. She later came home on an RBI triple by Halle Scheel to tie it 1-1.

Waller manufactured two more runs in the bottom of the third to take a 3-1 lead. Lady Bulldog catcher Hadlee Tomczak then unloaded a two run homer in the fifth to put Waller up 5-1.

The Cubettes got back on the scoreboard again in the top of the sixth. Kenley Mikolajchak led off the inning with a single. Nevaeh Holmes pinch ran and later scored on an RBI single by Cortney Ragnes to cut the lead to 5-2.

Waller tacked on one more insurance run in the bottom of the sixth.

The Cubettes are scheduled to take part in the Dripping Springs Tournament which runs Thursday-Saturday. Thursday, they are scheduled to face Georgetown East View at 9am, and then take on Georgetown at 1pm. Games are weather permitting.
