INDEPENDENCE FIRE & ICE COOK-OFF APRIL 8, 9

  

Independence Community Events will soon fire up the coals for its 12^th Annual Fire and Ice Cook-off.

Teams will meet on April 8^th and 9^th on the Independence town square to determine who makes the best barbecue, beans, chef’s choice and margaritas.

The steak shoot-out contest includes a first place prize of $1,000, sponsored by Southern Star Trucking and Brenham Iron Works.  Second place will win $500, sponsored by Cattleman’s Brenham Livestock Auction, and third place will receive $250, sponsored by Schulte Cattle Company.

There will also be contests and prizes for margaritas, beans, jackpot chef’s choice, brisket, pork ribs, and chicken.

Team registration is $100 before March 31^st, going up to $125 afterwards.  Proceeds from the cook-off benefit the restoration of the old school house.
