The Blinn College District Music Program will present “Opera or Jazz?” Tuesday, March 29, with performances by the choir, women’s chorus, men’s chorus, concert choir, and chamber choir.

The concert, free to the public, will be held at 7 p.m. at the Dr. W.W. O’Donnell Performing Arts Center at 600 Blinn Boulevard on the Brenham Campus (map).

This is the first choir concert of the spring 2022 season, said Dr. Paulo Gomes, Director of Choral Music.

“The Blinn College choirs have worked hard to create this beautiful concert,” said Gomes. “We are extremely excited about ‘Opera or Jazz?’ and hope the audience will be inspired by our diverse music-making.”

Accompanists will be Dr. Patricia Burnham and Mary Ann Hatfield.

The Blinn choir will open the concert with “William Tell Overture” and “Major General.” Blinn Professor Dr. Daniel Johnson, who assists with Blinn’s choral and music theory programs, will perform with the choir.

The women’s chorus will then perform “Tuxedo Junction,” “My Shining Hour,” and “Witches’ Chorus,” followed by the chamber choir’s presentation of “Gloria,” “Nessun Dorma,” and a medley of “Manhattan Transfer Swing.”

The men’s chorus will perform “With Cat-Like Tread,” “Anvil’s Chorus,” “Dry Bones,” “The Longest Time,” “The Girl from Impanema,” and “The Beatles in Revue.” The choir will end the concert with “Footprints.”
