BRENHAM PUBLIC WATER DEPARTMENT SENDS OUT CUSTOMER LEAD & COPPER SURVEY
The City of Brenham is asking residents to provide responses on a customer lead and copper survey for the water in their homes.
The city’s public water system is required by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) to sample customers’ homes for lead and copper every three years.
The water sample focuses on homes built between 1982 and 1989. The EPA focuses on these years because of the Lead and Copper Rule in the Code of Federal Regulations. If there are not enough homes that fall between the years of 1982 and 1989 to inspect, other homes may be sampled.
Residents are encouraged to participate to help comply with government regulations and monitor water quality. While these contaminants are not in source water, they can enter tap water through the corrosion of older household plumbing materials.
Customers will receive a link and instructions for the survey in their water bill. A link to the survey is also available here.
Survey responses will be collected until May 31st.
