BLINN COLLEGE TO HOST ONE-ACT PLAY TEAMS

The Blinn College-Brenham Campus will welcome approximately 1,600 high school students, parents, and administrators April 22-23 when it hosts the University Interscholastic League (UIL) Academic and One-Act Play meets.

Blinn will host the Region III-AAA Academic Meet and One-Act Play on Friday, April 22, and the Region IV-A Academic Meet and One-Act Play on Saturday, April 23. The two regions include 130 high schools in Central, East, and Southeast Texas.

“The Blinn College District is proud to host these high-achieving students as they showcase their talents in the UIL academic and one-act play competitions,” Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs Dr. Marcelo Bussiki said. “We hope that these events give them an opportunity to tour our campus and see the many academic and student life opportunities that Blinn College has to offer.”

UIL academic contests are designed to motivate students through comprehensive competitions, challenge students to think critically, and provide students with the opportunity to demonstrate mastery of essential knowledge and skills. Students competing in the regional meet qualified through their performance at a district meet in March and can qualify for the UIL Academic State Meet at the University of Texas at Austin.

According to a recent economic impact study conducted by the College, Blinn provides an annual $70.7 million economic value to Washington County, including the impact of the College’s operations spending, construction, student spending, special events, and alumni.
