APPRAISAL DISTRICT BOARD PUBLIC HEARING ON TUESDAY

The Washington County Appraisal District Board of Directors will hold a public hearing this Tuesday on their 2022-2023 Proposed Budget.

The board held a budget workshop last month in which Chief Appraiser Dyann White presented a proposed budget of $1,216,200.

The proposed budget is an increase of $237,020 from last year.

White said that this is a balanced budget.

It is made up of proposed positions, salary ranges, a proposed salary for each position and a list of benefits, the proposed capital expenditures and the estimate of the amount of the budget that will be allocated to each taxing unit.

After the public hearing, the Appraisal District Board will vote on whether or not to approve the proposed budget.

The Washington County Appraisal District Board of Directors will meet Tuesday at 10am at the Appraisal District Office at 1301 Niebuhr Street.

  1. School, city, appraisal district EVERYONE has their hands out for our money ! TAXES !

Makes you want to sell everything you work so hard for to have, because even AFTER everything is paid for you still owe money on it !

Car have to register, property have to pay tax, fuel higher prices, groceries higher prices!

My goodness we are all going to end up homeless !

    1. Agree! We work and sacrifice to buy property, then we work and sacrifice to maintain the property so they punish us by continually increasing our taxes. They know they can get the money out of us because we will keep fighting and struggling to keep what we have put so much in to. That is, until they break us. Who’s going to pay when no one can afford to own property? My advice to our young people: Don’t buy property! Rent everything. Let someone else pay taxes and maintenance. Spend your money on entertainment and vacations. That way you only pay taxes once on the things you purchase, not forever, over and over. Don’t know who’s going to be able to afford to own the rental properties.
