BLINN COLLEGE CLAY SHOOTOUT BRINGS IN OVER $107,000
The results are in, and after a two-year absence, the Blinn College Clay Shootout fundraiser came back with a bang.
The Clay Shootout raised $107,000 for scholarships and athletic equipment for the Blinn College Athletic Department.
A total of 50 teams competed in the event, which was held on April 8 at the Boswell Porter 4-H Shotgun Range in Burleson County.
The Clay Shootout was hosted by the Blinn College Alumni and Friends Association, and the Blinn College Alumni Letterman Association.
It was the first shootout since 2019. The event had been canceled the last two years due to COVID-19.
The men’s individual winner was Brant Malek. The women’s individual winner was Michelle Guerrier.
The winning team was Taylor Zdunkewicz, Tanner Vacha, Quinn McCulley, and Clay Whitfield. They hit a total of 376 out of 400 clays as a team.
Stylecraft Builders was the underwriter for the Clay Shootout with a $15,000 sponsorship.
Flight sponsors were the Bank of Brenham, Blue Bell Creameries, and Brenham National Bank.
Buccaneer Alumni Letterman Association Chairman Kevin Bosse thanked the sponsors, participants, Blinn student-athletes, and other volunteers from various college organizations who helped make the event a success. Bosse said, "As a former student and athlete at Blinn, it's an honor to give back and support this event."
"After a pause in the Shootout for the past few years because of the pandemic, we were thrilled to be able to host this important fundraiser again," said Susan Myers, Executive Director of the association, and the Blinn College Foundation. "We have always received tremendous support from volunteers and businesses who truly want to help Blinn students and programs, and that was evident again this year."
