BRENHAM CUBS BEAT HENDRICKSON 10-4, SWEEP SERIES 2-0

In front of an energetic crowd at Fireman's Park, the Brenham Cubs punched their ticket to the Region Quarterfinals with a 10-4 win over the Hendrickson Hawks.

Hendrickson got on the board with a run in the top first inning on a fielder's choice.

In the bottom of the first, Jacob Mabie got things started for the Cubs with an opposite field home run. Lane Sparks followed with a single and then promptly stole second. He would come home to score on an RBI single by Mason Lampe. Ethan Jezierski added a single and Cade Warmke got hit by a pitch.  Gunner Gee hit into a double play, but Lampe still scored to make it 3-1 Cubs.

Jayden Rodriguez got Hendrickson started off in the second with a double off starting pitcher Blane Bolcerek.  Avery Hernandez then reach on an error by Lampe.  Kevin Haslam brought them both in with a two-run single to tie the game 3-3.

Brenham came back with three runs in the fourth inning without getting a hit.  Brant Bender was hit by a pitch, Rylan Wooten walked, and Mabie also got hit by a pitch to load the bases.  Sparks hit a sacrifice fly that scored Bender.  Jezierski drew a bases loaded walk that scored Wooten, and Warmke hit another sacrifice fly that scored Colin Schaper, who courtesy ran for Mabie.  The Cubs lead was then 6-3.

The Cubs then had another three run inning in the bottom of the fifth.  Hayden Hupe walked, Wooten singled, and Mabie walked to load the bases. Lampe drew a bases loaded walk to score Hupe. Jezierski reached on an error by the shortstop that scored Wooten.  Then, Warmke drew another bases loaded walk that scored Schaper, who was running again for Mabie. Suddenly, Brenham was up 9-3.

After shutting them down for three straight innings, the Hawks got to Bolcerek in the sixth when Jaden Bahl was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded to make it 9-4.  Mason Lampe was brought on in relief and got the last three out of the innings.

In the bottom of the sixth, the Cubs got one run back when Wooten singled, and later came around to score on a wild pitch.

After hitting a batter to start the top of 7th, Lampe then proceeded to strike out the side and give the Cubs a 10-4 win, as well as a 2-0 sweep.

Brenham now awaits the winner of the College Station-Austin Anderson series.  College Station came back to win game two 12-0 tonight (Friday), and force a game three tomorrow (Saturday) at 7pm in Weimar.
