Giddings' Weiser wins two state titles, Bellville relay team finishes 2nd

The UIL State Track Meet got underway with Class 3A and Class 4A events on Thursday.

Carlie Weiser of Giddings High School won two State Championships.  She finished first place in both the Girls Shot Put and the Girls Discus. Weiser won the Shot Put with 46 feet one inch, and won the Discus with 157 feet and 4 inches.

The Bellville High School 4x100 Meter Relay Team of Colton Kaase, Tyler Fishbeck, Richard Reese, and Robert Briggs finished in second place.  The winning team Melissa High School beat them by only 0.006 seconds.  Melissa's time was 41.522 to Bellville's 41.528.

(Note: Jayden Scyrus ended up taking Tyler Fishbeck's place and ran at State with Kaase, Reese, and Briggs)

In the Class 3A Meet, Tardranique London from Hempstead High School finished third in the Girls 400 Meter Dash. Her time was 57.08 seconds.

On the Boys side, Daniel Cowan of Caldwell High School finished in second place in the High Jump. His jump was six feet, six inches. Cowan also finished 9th in the Triple Jump with 43 feet and 6 1/4 inches.

Other results:

The Sealy 4x400 Meter Relay Team finished 8th.  Also for Sealy, Taniah Coleman was 8th in the Girls Long Jump, Breanna Brandes was 7th in the Girls Pole Vault, and Xavier Olvera was 4th in the 800 Meter Dash.

For Bellville, Colton Kaase was sixth in the 300 Meter Hurdles.

The La Grange Girls 4x400 Meter Relay Team finished 6th.

Jacob Beck of Caldwell finished 8th in the Boys 100 Meter Dash.
