NEW PRINCIPAL AT SOMERVILLE HIGH SCHOOL

Philip Salazar
(Dickinson ISD)

Somerville ISD has named a new high school principal.

The Somerville School Board voted last week to hire Philip Salazar for the position, after accepting the resignation of previous high school principal Derron Robinson.

Salazar comes to Somerville as he starts his 18th year in education, which includes over 10 years of leadership experience.  His previous roles consist of serving as the director of Manor ISD’s Early College High School and an assistant principal at Dickinson High School.

After graduating from the University of Houston, Salazar began his career teaching and coaching in Cypress Fairbanks ISD.  He would go on to receive a master’s degree in school counseling from Sam Houston State University and a master’s in school administration from Lamar University.
