TEXAS A&M AGRI-LIFE OFFERING HAY TESTING
The Texas A&M Agri-Life Extension Service is offering Austin County residents the chance to learn more about the quality of hay that they are feeding to their livestock.
The Beef and Forage Committee of Austin County is encouraging beef cattle producers to turn in a sample of their hay for analysis.
The analysis will be done by the Texas A&M Forage Testing lab. The test helps them determine what additional level of supplement may be needed during the winter.
The test also shows crude protein level, total digestible, and acid detergent fiber. The testing is open to any hay producer Austin and surrounding counties.
Hay samples may be turned in August 1-August 31 at any of the following locations: The Austin County Extension Office, Bellville Farm & Ranch, and Linseisen’s Feed & Supply in Bellville, Steinhauser’s in Sealy, Dudensing Farm Service in New Ulm, and Lindeman Store in Industry.
Producers may submit as many samples as they wish for analysis. There is no entry fee.
