BURTON SCHOOL BOARD TO DISCUSS BUDGET, TAX RATE

The Burton School Board will continue talks on next school year’s budget and consider a proposed tax rate to be published at its meeting Monday.

The board’s conversation will be followed by the scheduling of a meeting for public comment on the budget and tax rate.

The budget for the 2021-22 school year was $8,320,434.  The tax rate was $0.9782 per $100 valuation.

Trustees will also vote on continuing Community Eligibility Provision (CEP) to provide meals to all students at no charge.

In addition, the board will discuss approval of an interior keyless access control system.  In June, it approved a proposal with KLC Video Security for exterior cameras, but Superintendent Dr. Edna Kennedy stated the company was still working on the proposal for interior access control.

Other items on Monday’s agenda include consideration of:

  • The district-wide and campus improvement plans.
  • Employee and student handbooks.
  • The teacher appraisal calendar.
  • Updated Texas Education Agency public health guidance.

The board will meet Monday at 6 p.m. at the Burton High School Auditorium.
