WASHINGTON COUNTY COMMISSIONERS TO PROPOSE TAX RATE AT MEETING

Taxes will be one of the big topics of discussion at the next meeting of the Washington County Commissioners Court.

The Commissioners are scheduled to propose the 2022 property tax rate and take a record vote.

The proposed rate will be dropping from 50.32 cents to 38.60 cents per $100 valuation.

The rate is just under the voter approval tax rate of 38.63 cents per $100 valuation.

While the tax rate is lower, county residents will end up paying more in taxes due to higher property tax values.

In other items on the agenda:

The Garden Club of Chappell Hill is making a donation to the Washington County EMS.

They will be discussing an interlocal agreement between the county and Burton ISD, where Washington County will provide Burton ISD with a school resource officer.

The commissioners are also going to approve the appointment of election judges, alternate judges, and tabulators for the county elections.

They will also be requesting proposals for Washington County Jail Security Cameras, and applying for a grant for a Feral Hog Trapping Program.

The Washington County Commissioners Court meets Tuesday at 9am in their Chambers at the Washington County Courthouse.
