GIDDINGS HIGH SCHOOL INTERIM PRINCIPAL LEAVING FOR ANOTHER JOB

After just little over a month on the job, Giddings High School Interim Principal John Schumacher is leaving to take a new position.
Schumacher has been hired as an assistant superintendent for Prosper ISD, which is just north of Dallas. Giddings ISD is currently negotiating on a mutually agreeable date for his departure.
Schumacher is a former superintendent for Gonzales ISD and Mason ISD with over 40 years in education, including the last 22 years as an administrator.
He was hired to be the interim principal in July. The previous Giddings High School principal Chad Rood has been on a leave of absence with the district since May 23.
In a statement from Giddings ISD Superintendent Roger Dees, he said that they appreciate Mr. Schumacher for helping them through the summer months getting GHS ready for the first days of class.
He added that the staff shared their disappointment at the news that Schumacher was leaving, because they enjoyed having him provide a ‘collaborative table’ to plan for the coming school year.
Dees further stated that although they just posted the position on Monday, Giddings ISD has already received an extremely high level of interest from multiple qualified candidates.
Giddings High School received a letter grade of A in the recent Texas Education Agency rankings that were released on Monday.
